The 2017 Annual Brooklyn Book Festival lineup has been released this past Friday, August 25th.

As expected, it does NOT disappoint!

This festival is the largest free literary event in New York City, showcasing work from various genres, attracting tens of thousands of readers, of ALL ages, every year.

The event even hosts a Children's Day, which includes highlighting significant works of children's literature as well as discussing the impact children can have on their community. The Day will commence with a kids yoga session on Saturday morning, 10:30 am, at Picture Book Stage (MetroTech Commons).

"Festival Day" is on September 17th, showcasing over 300 writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and graphic novels. Writers will take part in panel discussions and readings, as well as other artistic performances.

Leading up to Festival Day, is a week of "Bookend" Events, which are ticketed events held in various locations throughout the city.

A definite highlight of the week is an appearance by NYC native, musical artist and writer Patti Smith. The event will be held on September 11th at St. Ann & The Holy Trinity Church.  She will give a talk about the release of her new book, Devotion

For those unfamiliar with Smith beyond her music career, her 2010 memoir, Just Kids received the National Book Award for Nonfiction. Her more recent 2015 memoir, M Train, is a New York Times best-seller, and even earned her a Grammy Nomination for Best Spoken Word Album.
