Food halls are poppin' out everywhere!

Just recently, the Bowery got a year round one that's outdoors, and the polar opposite TurnStyle opened in Columbus Circle. We make plans around these venues and try our best to try as much food as they provide.

Now, it seems that another is coming but this time to the South Bronx, where redevelopment is increasing rapidly.

Somerset Partners has purchased an old 16,000-square-foot warehouse that can be extended up to 30,000 square-feet where they plan to have sit-down restaurants, a food market, and even a beer garden.

The warehouse, located at 9 Bruckner Boulevard, was built in the 1930's and made fire doors until 1997. As first reported by The Real Deal, Somserset Partners purchased the property for $7.5 million and are hoping to have the The Bruckner Market open in 12 to 18 months.

The Bruckner Market is not the first property being developed by Somerset Partners in the South Bronx.

Last year, along with Chetrit Group, they spent $58 million on two sites where there are plans for up to six 25-story residential buildings.

The Bronx is truly going through a dramatic shift. Sh*t, this is a straight up identity crisis.

Just this week, Massimo Bottura, who runs what is currently considered the best restaurant in the world, announced that he will be opening his own dining hall in the Bronx as well. The dining hall is set to open around 2017.

It seems that the Bronx is almost burning its identity. Gentrification will and is happening right before eyes and we as a city have a duty to preserve our homes.

We all love a good food market or beer hall but what any New Yorker really loves is knowing that their home is cherished.
